I really enjoyed reading the Book Nickeled and Dimed. This book really gave the reader a glance into the real world for a couple minutes. but the truth is for some of us, it is more than just minutes that we experience this world. real people do live like this in every town in every state in america. some people have it a lot harder than we want to give them credit for. we just tell ourselves that these people are lazy and uneducated, but this is not the case, as proven in the book. i found it deeply satisfying when she found it hard to live like those people. it was the hardest she had ever worked , as she stated in the book. and it gave me an even deeper apreciation for those hard working middle class workers who just want to take care of the family they have.

I really enjoyed the second chapter when she worked in Portland, Maine. I am from Portland and t was really funny to hear her talking about places that i grew up really close to. it did give me a different view of it though. when i was growing up, i didnt see the working class, as you might say. all i saw was the people who owned beach houses, so it was important for me to see this view of the town.

ok so i know that i blog lot about what some my say stupid crap, but it is the only thing that makes what to blog. i do not want to blog about something important, for fear i will get my facts wrong, so why not blog about meaningless garbble. but really, i know everybody thought that Britney and K fed, as he is called now, were going to call it quits but i had no idea it would happen this soon. i figured Britney loved KFed even though all the crap people say about him, but still she is getting a divorce? they just had a kid? things could not have been going that bad. but i guess she had just had enough with the white trash cracks. even though i knew that this was coming, i do feel bad for Britney and her kids. and i think its just retarted that Ken=vin is filing for sole custody for both children. he probably figuers if he doesnt get custody, he will actually have to get a job to support all the other K fed babies in the world. And then what will become of the freeloading rapper? with no Britney to fall back on, i bet he could go as high as bieng the next Eminem. or at least have a full name, not just initials!

Hunger as Ideology

i did not really enjoy reading Hunger as Ideology by Susan Bordo. i did not like this article because i do not like reading about how women are supposed to eat. i had a lot of trouble when i was younger for this very reason. It was always shown to me how women were supposed to eat and how they were supposed to look. after hearing about it and dealing with it for so long, i really cold not get into the fact that i was supposed to be analysis’s the story. even forgetting about m y past, i still did not like this story for the reason i thought it was way to wordy. i did like how she used a lot of examples, but even then, i got confused with the writing. i liked how she started out with the example of twiggy because i also like the history of Twiggy. and i did like when she talked about how men are able to eat completely different then women. i do think this is true and completely unfair. i hate it how women always watch what they eat because, god forbid, they eat to much and get looked at funny. yet men can eat as much as they want. the more the better for men. so all in all, i thought this article was way to wordy with way to many inquisitions for me to deal with. she made her point that women have to eat differently than men. Bravo.

this article made me rather upset. as a child i watched the cosby show religously. i looked at him as my father. i know that bill cosby may not be the actuall person that he played on television, but he amde the character really come true. so it is very hard for me to believe that BILL cosby could do these things that he is acused of doing. i read through this article many times and i stilll cant decide if he really did it or not. why would he give her pills for trouble sleeping? what is he a doctor in real life? im confused. and the woman said that when she woke up from after she Voluntarily took these three blue pills, her clothes were a mess. first off, i dont take pills from anybody but my doctor. and then she stayed over night? why? how? but at least the man had enough decency to make breakfast the next morning.

ok how many more people can i possibly loose respcet for?Reese and Ryan were the perfect couple for like a million years. who ever thought they were going to break up. its just like Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. i never thought they were going to break up and when they did it took a couple of days for the idea to sink in. i wonder if this scandal really took place or if it is another enquirer rumor? i just cant get myself to believe it. i am going to have th=o hear the same story from at least two other reliable sources for me to believe it. they are (or were, who knows?) the perfect couple. i knew they were goign to get together when they were in cruel intentions. they played it so real and made me believe they were really in love. i guess they were, so what happened? please someone confirm.

The achievement of Desire

after i read this story of a young spanish child going to school and become a teacher, i wondered why he disrespected his parents so much? throughout the whole story, he talked like he absolutly hated them. he did not like them for the reason that they were not as educated as he was. they talked differently and didnt read the same books as he did. i do think that we are reformed by the education we recieve. i think it effects people on certain levels. you see some kids that have a chance to get a good education yet take advantage of it. for me, high school was never that important to me. but now that i am in college and on my own i have learned to apprciate education on many more levels. i sometimes want to read certian books that maybe my peers have not. and i have noticed myself watching political programs that i would not normally watch, for the fact that it gives me something to talk about in my poliytics class. so in this way, eduaction has reformed me personlally and i am sure events like this take place for many people.

ok I want to know what this man does at this building. i mean besides the fact of running around naked. does he work there? is he a security gaurd? the article did not tell us a lot obout the story. but it makes you wonder about all of the other security jobs that people hold. if you were working as a security gaurd in some building late at night what would you do? if no one ever comes into those buildings it probably gets kinda boring. i could imagine that walking around naked on the job probably has croosed evvery gaurds mind. but the difference is THEY DONT DO IT. what the hell. I dont know if i believe his laywer when he says he has a disability. if he was no mentally stable why would he have a job with absolutly no supervision? this guy does not have problems, he is just your ordinary everyday naked pervert. dont try to pull the old “mental Handicap” over on me.

or maybe he is not a gaurd, maybe he just snuck in the building to walk around naked. in this case we have two predictable solutions. the Guard on duty obviously was not doing his job in the first place, seeing how the naked guy got in the building. and if this is the case, he doesnt need to be mentally unstable. do you know how many sick perverts there are in the world. they walk around naked all the time. i once saw a guy half naked in the train station in boston, and he wasnt insane, just nasty.

plane crashes in NY

NEW YORK (CNN) — Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and his flight instructor were killed Wednesday when the 34-year-old ballplayer’s plane crashed into a high-rise apartment building in New York, city and baseball team officials said.

this is such a tradedy. the yankee player was just learning how to fly and crashed and ened up dead. they landed outside of the plane and into the street where fire fighters found there bodies. the fire fighter siad that there was a distress call from the plane involving fuel. they lost radar contact by the time it reached 59th street. and they have no idea how it made it to 79th street were it crashed into a high rise building apartment. they said it looked like it landed right in the middle of somebodies living room. as this happened, the government were worried about it being another terrorist attack. the reason why i am writing about this certain article is because i heard an interesting fact on the news about this story. does anyone remember the macys day parade, i think last year? were a parade float crashed and landed on a lady innocently watching the holiday fun. well it was her living room that the plane crashed into. what luck. what of a hell of a thing to happen. she must be cursed and should probably move out of the city and not attend anymore public funtions.

Mount Ida to Now

i guess you could say that i have had many college experiences. this is not my first year at college nor is it my first year away from my family. i have been going to school since 2004. i started at a private college in Boston named Mount ida college. it was on the rich end of the city where people owned big houses with geen fenced in back yards with a few well educated children running around. it looked like the perfect city to have a college. but after spending one semester there i thought other wise. The people at the college were loud, obnoxious and rude. i lived in a dorm suite with eight other girls. yea, eight. it was never quiet. ever. the room was always fiiled with excitment at all hours of the night. i knew that i would not stay at this college. my boyfriend lived in Michigan where i decided i would live after one semester at Mount Ida.

I took a semester off and then attended university of Michigan. This was a pretty awsome school. I did not live on campus becasue me and my boyfreind worked twenty minutes away. commuting to school is alot different than living on campus. it was harder to meet people and become friends. i was only taking three classes so i had to meet people through classes.

Me and my Boyfreind ended up moving to Geoergia where he took a job. I had to go to a no name school , for i did not get into uneversity of west geogia. i hated this school. i had to drive an hour and a half just to get there and take classes that didnt even had to do with my major. no student wanted to be there. they would constalty talk down about the school.

now we are living in New york where i am attending school right here as we speak and i really like it. i still do not live on campus, fearing the small living quarters. and i still work full time.

love letters

i absolutly loved this story. i love stories of turmoil that get turned upside down and flopped completly in the other direction. at first i felt bad for her and then i started to realize tat she chose that life for herself. there was no big tramatic avent in her life that made her turn to the streets and drugs. as we were discussing in class the other day was how the story of Frederick Douglas love letters were similar. i thougth for a while and thought that they were not at all the same. i thought a littl emore and then realised that they are alike maor ways than one. the biggest similarity iw saw was that both characters had “owners” if you will. their owners are very diffenet though. Frederick had an actual owner, but mickeys owner was much f=different. the streets owned mickey. Drugs owned Mickey. they scouped her up and would not let her go for a very long time, so long that she didnt know how to live without her “owner”.

i loved the letters subject. i loved how she described herself when she wrote them. i loved how she said it was suspicious when a hooker went down the streets writing in a tablet. i loved the mystery at the beggining as to why she would not send them. and the suspision unwraveled and we knew why she did not send them. this is a story of talent almost not making it out of the gutter. if the law didnt pick her up and brudh her off, we would not have known about her. Where would she be? i think she would have ended up dead, and had done nothing withher life but the wrong things. it really makes you wonder what talent is out in the world that is owned to undiscovered territory.
